The Illuminating Son of Christian Reason

I was raised to cherish debate, democracy and opinion.  Respect is to be accorded to others based, in part, on their tolerance for views with which they differ.  I was taught to think of this as being liberal minded in the good sense.  Now, of course, the liberal project in America has veered off into political only identity-based Leftism.  It changes colors with as much facility as a chameleon.

I’m working on a recent example of the application of their worldview for my good friend Coach Dave Daubenmire.  He produces a one hour morning LIVEstream on the internet.  His Christian views got him censored off of so-called Christian radio years ago.  He was looking for another outlet.  Four years ago I suggested he try the internet.  He’s built a dedicated following at www.coachdavelive.com

He streams on YouTube and leaves the shows archived there for YouTubers to find and enjoy.  Yesterday I was teaching myself the back end of his YouTube channel and discovered that he’d received something called a “Community Guidelines Strike.”  Actually it is a “warning” … a community guidelines warning.  Google warns ominously, “If this happens again your channel will get a Community Guidelines strike and you won’t be able to do things like upload, post, or live stream for 1 week.”  They link to their Community Guidelines.  I didn’t waste a nanosecond reading that legal mumbo jumbo.  Everyone on the planet knows what all those incomprehensible words really mean.  Don’t offend a woman, black, jew or a sodomite.  If you do … you’re toast … especially if you choose to self-identify as a “white.”  All these guideline documents that are popping up on every website on the internet would be so much shorter and more comprehensible if they let me write them!

Coach’s strike is not related to a complaint from someone that can be answered.  It is like a lightening bolt out of a clear sky.  The offending video had been served from the channel for over three years!  And then, all of a sudden, it was disappeared from YouTube.  You can’t even download it for future use elsewhere on a different platform.  Google just deleted something you might have thought was your property.  You created it.  But Google owned it.  Who’d a thunk.  And they reserved to themselves not only the right to not stream it to the public.  They reserve to themselves the right to erase you from the internet.  Might want to let that one sink in if you use Google products like gmail, android, drive, photos etc.

If I click on the video title in the Community Guidelines strike pop up Google shows me a scary black box with white words and a big grey encircled exclamation point.

The intimidating white lettering spells out the sentence, “This video has been removed for violating YouTube’s policy on … (wait for it) … hate speech.”  Really YouTube?!  Hate speech.  That’s so 90s.  Google needs to get with the times.  We’ve entered Trump’s roaring 20s.  The Clinton/Bush 90s are over.  Hate speech is yesterday’s news.  Google persists in their amnesia with, “Learn more about combating hate speech in your country.” Yawn.

I know all of this just makes you curious about what the old football coach could have said in his show that inspired such aggravation in silicon valley’s hyper-sensitized social justice warrior class.  The title of the video provides a clue.  We headlined the video “The Synagogue of Satan.”  There’s a couple verses in the Bible’s final book titled “Revelation” that feature that phrase in connection with the Jews. 

The written description of the show — which I was able to find on the YouTube channel in greyed out text —says of the September 29, 2016 show, “Coach proclaims that he isn’t going to give honor to those who don’t deserve it.  We don’t hate Jews, or anyone.  We’re just not going to give honor where it isn’t deserved.”  Sounds like hate to me.  The producer of the show, my son Jared, found the original copy on his servers.  It is now available to the public once again at www.coachdavelive.video.  Check it out.  It’s a good one.

So what is this all about?  Silicon valley is balancing profits with politics.  Politics had the upper hand over the past four years.  The silicon valley oligarchs are  realizing that they are starting to put their profits at risk with all this political nonsense.  And at the beginning and end of the day all of these entities are businesses.  They are American corporations.  They are not religions, schools, governments, social clubs or whatever.  They are businesses.  They exist to sell stuff and make money.

Identity politics is a shooting star.  Admittedly it’s a bright one with a long tail.  But we’re already starting to see it dim as it streaks across the western sky.  The illuminating Son of Christian reason is rising in the East.  It will chase away the last vestiges of doom and gloom Modernism.  Praise God.
