Before the 1700s producing a silver spoon from one’s pocked denoted that you were a member of the land owning class. The spoon was like a passport indicating that you were in the lower middle class. You weren’t a serf or escaped slave.

Mainer Paul Zimmerman used the expression with the press as he described his dilemma as owner of a small hotel and restaurant in a Western Maine village. He earned his silver spoon through hard work. It wasn’t given to him. He didn’t inherit it. After spending his retirement during the shut down to hold on to his business he was forced to either open or risk losing everything. Why?

Our world today is full of porn. Pornography is the exaggeration of a virtue, turning that virtue into a sin. Sexual porn releases the procreative act into the wilds of our passion and lust. It untethers sex from it’s design by God to be enjoyed by a husband and wife within the bounds of marriage. Sex works when it is part of a life long quest nested inside reasonable rules and expectations.

The world is suffering right now from a very bad case of fear porn. Powerful forces have decided to use irrational fear to control the whole world. The source of the fear is science pretending to be religion or philosophy. The scientists are lying right along with the priests and pastors. Confusion and fear is the result.

Adolph Hitler wrote in his infamous book Mein Kampf, “In the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.”

Hitler continues, “It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.”

Gates, Soros and company really don’t care if they’re lie is found out. The scale of their project is Hitlerian. It’s religious. They can never be pushed back entirely because of their wealth and power, or so they believe. In two short months they’ve defined a new normal. At the beginning of the year none of us had heard the phrase “social distancing.” Now it’s in the dictionary alongside “social justice.” It’s a habit. And public shame on you if you hug or shake hands.

I’m still holding on to the idea that the sheer inhumanity of their vision is going to undo them. I’m believing that we haven’t reached the end of humanity, that God is going to bring something good out of their wicked plan. But each day causes me to ratchet from hope to despair.

Yesterday I was shot in the forehead by their pistol thermometer twice. I wasn’t even asked for my permission. It was assumed by these “guards” that I would submit to their tyranny, their violation of MY body. I was heartened the day before to see FedEx drivers and package handlers not practicing social distancing in the terminal, and showing off their smiles. I hate the coffee filters. I fear that the body snatchers, emboldened by the political Left in the West, will continue to use their newfound government power to create their new normal. God help us. Literal- ly. God, please help us.

I’m encouraged by news indicating that small and medium size businesses are opening all over America. They are being fined and threatened by the government. But they are still opening. Thank you Jesus.

Schools remain closed, and suicide hotlines are overwhelmed. Absorbed into the Western workforce matrix dads and moms have abandoned the tools of successful parenting and family formation. Locked into their houses with children accustomed to parenting by the bell in government run daycares, inaccurately called schools, everyone is clueless and stressed.

I’d be happy if the government run schools never opened again, but replacing them is going to take years. They need to open in a society dedicated to returning to God. I don’t see any evidence of Christian repentance in the culture. The institutional Church, in fact, appears to be leading the way into the new psychologized and politicized world order. The laity, however, seems to be stirring. I’m concerned that the stirring had better grow into a populist tsunami in short order or hugs, handshakes, eye contact and playgrounds will be a thing of the past.

Maine businessman Paul Zimmerman declared, “If my freedoms get taken away, then I’m done.”

The right to life, liberty and property are acknowledged as God given in America’s founding documents. They are not given by government, they are secured and protected by government. Communist and totalitarian cultures brainwash people into believing that their freedoms can be taken away. Christians know they are secured by heaven. Americans used to agree.

Truth, indeed reason itself, has been aborted along with the babies. Selah.
