For years I’ve heard the phrase, “What a time to be alive!” ejaculated with enthusiasm by friends in politics and religion.  My sympathies haven’t been fully on board with the sentiment (especially the impassioned version) since the spring of 2004 — twenty one years ago.  Before that I felt all positive thinky when I was winning in politics.  This is testimony to the power of my carnal nature.  I loved winning in politics.  Way too much.

While I still don’t regret my Trump vote last fall, I’m starting to wonder (big time) whether Trump’s BIG AMERICAN BUSINESS personality is going to tank his opportunity to keep America from fracturing into regions, and maybe even blowing through the violence of summer 2020 to something that looks more like civil war.  His transactional style of engaging with everything and everyone might be starting to open fissures politically that could widen into unbridgeable canyons between wound tight forces inside, and outside, the nation.

What humanity needs right now, especially the United States of America, is to slow down and stop scrolling/trolling.  Humanity’s soul needs time.  We must have peace.  Immense threats that have never before confronted humanity are shattering the borders of everything we love.  Driving the pace of threat and change is Technology.
