During the last decade of my two decades as leader of the Christian Civic League of Maine I devoured all the novels authored by Patrick OBrian in his Aubrey/Maturin series. I was recently reminded of the story by the review below. I decided to pass it along as a blog post. OBrian wrote over twenty novels in the series. I offer my highest endorsement and recommendation to readers of historical fiction.
As leader of the only Maine political institution effectively confronting the pedophile juggernaught I felt alone. I drew much solace and wisdom from OBrian’s portrayal of Captain Aubrey as always alone … especially at the most difficult moments in the discharge of his duties.
I thank God for the story.
My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ sustained me. He used this narrative as a tutor in leadership.
